The Decliners were formed in the early days of 2005 out of the ashes of a number of defunct Portland bands. The main lineup came together early in 2006 following a string of shows played as a classic power trio when Joey Steelhead took over on bass guitar, allowing Nolan Void to concentrate his energies on his vocals. The Decliners first record, "Thanks, But No Thanks," was released in April 2006 to strong local reviews and a string of sold-out shows. Personnel changes wracked the band in 2007, as Steelhead took a hiatus and was replaced by Eric Friendly until fall 2008, when the band nearly disintegrated altogether following a rousing two-week west coast tour to San Diego and back. A few months passed, however, and 2009 has seen the Decliners play a number of solid shows, as well as laying down the tracks for the band's third release "Chehalis," a seven-song EP that is now mastered and nearing release.
