The Verner Pantons

On the occasion of a double-rainbow in Portland OR, 2010, The Verner Pantons arched into being at the hands of Tobias Berblinger and Ryan Massad, through a series of experimental psychedelic songwriting on synthesizers and theremin. A student of industrial design, Berblinger's encounter with the 1970 Verner Panton 'Visiona 2' installation constituted the nominal and thematic ignition point for his new musical project, which would later develop as a roots-garage and psychedelic rock band influenced by The Velvet Underground, BJM, The Smiths, Soft Boys, Spacemen 3, and all things related. Gaining identity and focus with the addition of former Pastilla drummer Eric Rubalcava in 2013, the band developed momentum amidst a rotating cast of musicians, culminating in the recording of the '1st Album', March 2014, produced by bassist Max Waker, and featuring the guitar work of original member Ben Lipsey, and Becca Davidson, who later in the year would exit to join Spindrift in L.A. After exposure garnered from their Aug. 2014 appearance on opbmusic's Stagepass (featuring guitarist Dave Berkham), the band entered a new period of transition in the Winter of 2015, with the departure of Ben, and Dave moving on to his new project, The Reverberations. The band, now consisting of Tobias and Eric, became reinvigorated by the advent of Ethan Butman (bass) and John Mason IV (guitar) in April 2015, who would play their 1st show together in May for Nuggets Night at Mississippi Studios. The chemistry of this lineup has propelled the group into the present day, with a new LP recorded this May at Hallowed Halls, followed by a July tour of Oregon and Washington with East L.A. band The Bloodhounds. The Verner Pantons look forward to their forthcoming shows in the Northwest this Autumn, and the prospective Winter 2017 release of their new record
